Detox Bath For Weight Loss Using Essential Oils

Finding a successful weight loss plan can be a daunting task. Especially if you want to manage your weight without the range of side effects that often come with the venture. Everyone is different. Your body may operate much differently from your neighbor down the street. And so, some diets, drugs, etc. may work better (or worse) for you than for others.

If you’re looking to “go natural,” we recommend a very simple technique, something you may already be doing on a weekly, or even daily, basis. We’re just adding a little something to it. A modification, if you will. We’ll call it an essential oil detox bath.

Detox baths are a great home remedy for a range of health issues, everything from stress to colds to – yes, even weight loss. A natural detox bath has countless benefits, cleansing the body of toxins and delivering additional support to different parts of the body’s systems.

Why use essential oils in your detox bath

The natural form of most essential oils are highly concentrated. So an undiluted topical application can cause harm, depending on your skin type. The overwhelming majority of essential oils can be applied topically, but there are things to consider. If you have skin sensitivity, be sure to dilute with a carrier oil, such as tea tree or coconut oil.

If you do suffer from sensitive skin, the best way to apply weight loss essential oil is in a bath. Running through a diffuser is a great application method, but it won’t be quite as effective as applying the oils to your skin (whether directly or in the bath).

The best essential oils for weight loss

Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, we recommend adding a maximum of 20 drops of your chosen oil(s). This natural method for reducing weight is a great alternative to the synthetic creams and unfortunate side effects of some weight loss programs. Here are some of the more popular essential oils to add to your weight loss detox bath:

  • Peppermint
  • Basil
  • Grapefruit
  • Rosemary

Detox BathWhile some of these oils can be used effectively on their own (depending on your goals), it’s best to use a blend of multiple oils. We recommend a metabolic-type blend that works to manage your appetite in between meals. This blend includes peppermint, cinnamon, grapefruit, and lemon.

Other natural alternatives to consider

The best weight loss “program” is a comprehensive weight loss program. While taking the occasional essential oil detox bath can help, there are other things you should consider. Some of these certainly lean on the more obvious, but they still serve as good reminders:

  • Decrease general calorie intake
  • Curb stress and depression with natural alternatives (lavender and frankincense are great for this!)
  • Exercise regularly to increase metabolism
  • Adhere to a healthy eating schedule, avoiding that oh-so-tempting late-night snack
